For Us, For the Land, Forver Español

Land for all meansall of us

We believe the health, economic, and cultural benefits of natural and working lands should reach every corner of this county equitably, for every person who lives, works, and explores here. That means building relationships with communities that have long gone underserved by conservation, and ensuring that open spaces are welcoming to all cultures, languages, and backgrounds, no matter skin color, age, ability, or country of origin.

Our job is to protect land for all of us, forever.

How we protect land

Our conservation work touches the lives of all Sonoma County residents.

Every acre we conserve is an investment in Sonoma County’s future. By conserving land today, we protect the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat. We protect habitat for our wildlife to thrive, and we preserve places for everyone to get outside and find joy.

Development pressure, drought, wildlife, and the erosion of farmland viability all put our landscapes at risk. Once open space is lost, it is nearly impossible to reclaim. That is why permanent protection matters.

Conserving different types of land throughout the county helps ensure that everyone has access to nature and open space, local healthy food, and opportunities for exercise and education. Vibrant parks, gardens, and greenways within and near urban areas give our community the chance to enjoy solitude, find community, and experience nature closer to where they live.
